Summer is fast approaching, and before you know it, the kids will be out of school. If you’ve been busy planning summer activities for your family, there’s probably one helpful piece you’ve left out of the puzzle: summer organization.

Here are a few organizing tips and storage solutions to keep in mind this summer:

Outdoor grilling station – What is summer without a cookout every now and then? Keep your grilling station organized with tools and accessories within easy reach. Hang a lattice panel near or above your barbeque station. With simple S-hooks, you can hang grill baskets, utensils and grill tools, and storage bins or wire racks to hold brushes, meat thermometers and other grilling necessities. Mount a foil dispenser to an outdoor table and hang a letter tray to the underside of a table or counter to store dishtowels and hot pads.

Outdoor storage – It’s important you have a place to store all of your toys and tools for outdoor activities to keep them out of the way, but there are certain items that should be stored somewhere your kids will have easy access to them. Rather than storing your kids’ balls and toys in your backyard storage shed or garage, use a wooden chest. As an added bonus, it can double as outdoor seating. You can even add a seat cushion covered in weather and waterproof fabric.

Garage or shed storage and organization – Chances are, you’ll visit your garage or shed more frequently in the months when you are spending more time outside. Keep your garage or shed well organized by hanging tools on the walls and utilizing storage cabinets. The key is to keep items off the floor so you won’t trip over them.

Summer should be spent having fun and not hassling with tools, toys and poor organization. By utilizing a few of these simple summer organizing tips, you’ll be able to better focus on what’s most important — making memories with your family.
