Learn to Love Your Linen Closet

24
Apr

In many homes, the linen closet is less of a closet and more a swirling vortex of stuff. Often people complain that when they open the doors to the linen closet, they have no idea what they’ll find. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Believe it or not, your linen closet can be as neat and tidy as the rest of your Dallas closet storage. Here are some tips to incorporate organization into your linen closet, and the rest of the custom closet systems in your Dallas home.

Step 1: Take Everything Out – It’s Time to De-Clutter

Yup, it’s time to de-clutter your Dallas closet storage. Take everything out of your linen closet and place it on the floor beside you. Organize the items based on the following categories:

  1. Sheets
  2. Towels
  3. Washcloths
  4. Napkins
  5. Toiletries

If you haven’t used any items in the past month, they can be donated to charity or put in our lavender-scented garment bags and stored at the back of your closet. If you are confident that you will never use an item again, don’t let it take up room in your new custom closet systems.

If you have very specific sheets, such as silk sheets, store them in our lavender scented garment bags to keep them neat, fresh, and moth-free.

As for the toiletries, get rid of anything that’s expired or items that are partly used but will likely never be used again. If you have unopened cosmetics or beauty products that you don’t need, give them to a friend or donate them to charity.

Before you start putting things away, since everything is emptied, now is the perfect time to clean inside your linen closet. Clean any spills, then soap off each shelf and dry the shelves with a cloth or towel.

Step 2: Custom Solutions for Your Dallas Closet Storage

The first thing you’ll want to do is line your shelves with our drawer liners, which smell like lavender. Not only will the scent keep your linens smelling fresh, but lavender is a natural moth repellent.

Next, a good idea is to return the linens to the closet in an organized fashion. Put the items you stored in our lavender garment bags right at the back in order to ensure freshness. As you put things away, put the items you use most at the front and put them at a convenient storage level.

To keep things streamlined in your custom closet systems, try investing in our shelf dividers. They will keep your linens from toppling all over each other again and will make organization easier and more efficient.

Finally, return the toiletries to the closet. Instead of piling them back in, check out our plastic mini bins or our wire bins to keep all of your toiletries in one easy-to-access place.

Keep Your Custom Closet Systems Fresh

Once everything is back in, try adding our square sachets or aroma folds in your closet to keep it smelling fresh and moth-free!
